Sarah Temporal is a prize-winning poet, cultural producer, and educator.
Sarah is a consummate live performer of poetry, having toured Australia’s east coast as a slam poet. She is the winner of the Bunker Spoken-word Slam and Nimbin Performance Poetry World Cup, and a three-times finalist for the Arts Queensland XYZ Prize for Excellence in Spoken-Word. Her poetry appears in Best of Australian Poems, Australian Poetry Anthology, Cordite, MeniscusĀ and more. Her debut poetry collection Tight Bindings is published with Puncher and Wattmann in 2024.
Sarah initiated and runs Poets Out Loud, a Northern Rivers-based platform to empower writers of all ages through the spoken-word. She has produced dozens of high-quality events and projects, showcasing voices from our community alongside international feature poets. Poets Out Loud Youth Slam is an annual highlight, offering prizes and mentoring for young writers aged 12-18 in partnership with Byron Writers Festival.
Sarah is a skilful and inclusive facilitator. Her workshops, courses and mentoring are inspiring, hands-on experiences that allow writers to find their authentic voice. With a background in secondary English teaching, she offers school workshops for school years 5-12, mentoring for English Extension 2 students, and youth writing masterclasses.
