What creative industries does the directory cover?

The directory features artists and creative industries from a broad range of fields including:

Within each of the above creative fields there are multiple categories to choose from.

The quality of our creatives contributes to a constantly evolving visual culture and our aim is to continue to fill the site with professional, amazing creatives!

Where do I have to be based to participate?

Northern Rivers Creative will feature creatives residing and working in the Northern Rivers region of NSW.

These areas include:

  • Ballina Shire
  • Byron Shire
  • Clarence Valley
  • Kyogle
  • Lismore
  • Richmond Valley
  • Tweed Shire

Does it cost anything to have a profile?

It is free to register if you are working in the following local government areas: Byron Shire, Clarence Valley, Kyogle, Lismore, Richmond Valley and Tweed Shire.

If you are a creative based in the Ballina Shire the membership fee is $75 for your initial annual membership fee and $50 ongoing annual membership fee.

I am based in Ballina Shire, why am I different?

Ballina Shire Council no longer supports Arts Northern Rivers through a financial contribution. This means we can only offer our services to Ballina Shire residents on a user pay basis.

As an integral part of the arts and creative industries of the Northern Rivers we would love to invite you to join the directory.

$75 – initial annual membership fee.

$50 – ongoing annual membership fee

How will I be found?

To help grow your market we have created an easy to navigate directory that will help audiences find you and your work on the site – they can then connect to you directly through your contact information, links to your website, socials or other digital platforms.

What opportunities will I have access to as a creative?

We’re continually developing category-specific professional development activity to support creatives on the site. Opportunities include events, residencies, exhibitions, performances, screenings, workshops, masterclasses, partnerships, education and so much more.

Northern Rivers Creative regularly promotes creatives in local and national print publications, as well as all digital platforms.

What do I need to apply?

To be featured on the directory you will need to submit your expression of interest and supply links to your socials or website. If you do not have an online presence you have the option to upload images of your work.

What is the selection process?

Northern Rivers Creative is a project managed by Arts Northern Rivers. Participation on the site is at the discretion of Arts Northern Rivers, who curate the site to showcase the quality and ambition of the creative industries in the Northern Rivers.

An expression of interest does not guarantee participation on the site with a number of criteria considered in this process including, but not limited to:

Commitment

  • Demonstrated commitment by the applicant to their creative practice
  • Demonstrated commitment by the applicant to growing their career and business through professional and skills development activity and opportunities

Quality

  • The applicant’s work is of a standard and quality that aligns with the aims of the Northern Rivers Creative site – which is to showcase the quality of arts and creative industries in the Northern Rivers
  • The images supplied for display on Northern Rivers Creative are of a quality that support the aims of the site. *
    Please note: images submitted will be approved by Arts Northern Rivers, applicants may be asked to submit alternative images prior to approval

Ambition

  • The applicant is actively engaged in promoting their creative practice
  • The applicant is actively demonstrating their commitment to achieving creative outcomes and engagement within creative networks
