Anne Smerdon is an artist from Currumbin Valley. Previously represented by 19 Karen Contemporary Artspace on the Gold Coast, Porter Contemporary in New York and Manyung Gallery Group in Melbourne, Anne has exhibited both nationally and internationally and has received various awards for her work.
Anne also runs The Artory an art school in Kingscliff NSW which fosters creativity and an appreciation for the arts amongst the local community. She also teaches artist workshops at schools and various art institutions locally and overseas.
Anne works in watercolour and in oil. Her works are largely influenced by her love of birds and horses. Her own pet birds, Vonnegut and Schiele (two Indian Ringnecks named after the author Kurt Vonnegut and artist Egon Schiele) are adored by over 170,000 people on social media. Anne provides education for fellow bird owners and she has written a book on the gold-standard of bird ownership, to help bring the general population of bird owners up-to-date with the current research and knowledge on the needs of birds in captivity.
