Alana Gunn‘s solo exhibition, Natural Habitat, is open from the 17th of March – 17th June at Newrybar Merchants.

Inspired by the intuitive process of abstraction and groundedness of self, Alana Gunn’s new collection evokes a calming nature with layers of depth and mystery. Textural markings coincide with an earthy natural palette in dreamlike movement. These forms are reflective of the artist’s state of mind of stillness, trust and alignment in hope of what 2021 will bring.

An intensity soaks its way across the artworks, opening up a doorway for conversation. Working her way in a soft gestural and meditative approach, the artist layers mediums of clay plaster, earth pigments, sand and acrylics. All artworks are framed in natural Tasmanian Oak. “Our Natural Habitat is the internal home we create for ourselves.”
