I think really it has always been about art for me. I grew up at Callala Bay and my late mother was a magnificent artist, we were designer babies and I grew up with frescos on the wall and wet paint everywhere. Our family homes were always magnificent, and my mother led the way in her local area. There was quite an arts collective in the south coast area of Nowra right down to Eden, even though this was in the sixties. My mother was a second grade pharmacist and my father hand carved yachts and trawlers. They worked like trojans, my mother never stopped. The houses got bigger until by the time Mum was forty five she was giving art lessons every week and often had commissions to paint properties or babies, even her friends were painted. They needed a roundabout at their door. I grew up with a total of thirty years of art lessons and simply put this extends to every area of my life. I am a Naive artist and I attempt primarily to capture energies. I am aware though of the great joy in buying art books and also now with the internet there are endless sites I can go to to see other’s works. I always have about six paintings in my head at once, the art comes through me.
