Emma Walke is a Bundjalung woman and potter from the North Coast of NSW creating as ‘Dhirrawong Ceramics’. Creating for over 25 years, Emma’s passion began through a love for the therapeutic qualities of ceramics and led her to complete her advanced diploma. Creating predominantly functional ware, Emma also explores jewellery, sculpture and wall hangings.
With all designs inspired by the river and country, she also incorporates language and personal memories, “I am inspired by my past and places I have lived – like the Batik range, or a dress my mother wore when I was a child when we lived in Indonesia.” Dhirrawong Ceramics can be found in galleries across the Northern Rivers including Art Aspects Gallery, Wadjar Gallery and Northern Rivers Community Gallery.
