Byron Shire
Belle Raine lives and works in the Northern Rivers Region of NSW. She graduated from the Byron School of Art in 2020, completing 3 years in visual arts practice. She continued her studies, completing another year in their alumni program. In 2020 she was also a finalist in the Gallipoli Art Prize and in 2021, a finalist and highly commended in the Ravenswood Emerging Artist Prize. Belle has recently been featured in the Byron Arts Magazine and in 2022 held her first solo exhibition ‘SOS’, at the Tweed Regional Gallery.
Belle’s work is influenced by film and photography with a tendency to oscillate between the representational and the abstract. History, politics and contemporary issues are wielded together with an aura of the intimately personal. This layering of ideas and themes oftentimes posing more questions to the viewer, than providing answers.
