As part of its response to COVID-19 impacts, Create NSW has brought forward its call for entries for the 2020 NSW Visual Arts Fellowship (Emerging), which supports NSW-based visual artists at the start of their careers, in partnership with Sydney’s Artspace.

Up to 12 artists will be selected to receive curatorial support and mentorship from Artspace as they develop new works for an exhibition where a final Fellow will be selected to receive $30,000 from Create NSW to progress a self-directed program of professional development. All shortlisted artists will receive a fee to participate in the exhibition and may be asked to participate in talks or other public programs.

Create NSW Executive Director Chris Keely said that in its 24th year, the initiative remains one not to be missed, despite some differences to its delivery this year.

“Usually we don’t open this opportunity until June, but this year is of course a little bit different. It’s a tough time for our community but we’re committed to finding ways to help artists, and especially those in their early stage careers, to prosper through this,” he said.

Applications for the 2020 NSW Visual Arts Fellowship (Emerging) are now open and close 5pm Tuesday 26 May 2020. Find out more information including details on how to apply here.
