The oeuvre of Terry Bouton is wide and disparate.
From her ceramic time machines embedded with mechanical parts and objects to her slip cast translucent white porcelain kangaroo masked flyers her works are embedded with history, research and metaphors about life. Her works are also incorporated into installations which include sound and light.
Terry is a trained teacher, artist and ancient historian who has lived in Argentina, Canada, Turkey and Germany. Her ceramics residencies have included India and Quebec as well as in various Australian schools. She has been a finalist in the Hutchins drawing prize, the Waterhouse prize, the Alice prize and winner of the Stanthorpe prize. Her work is found in regional galleries, the University of Queensland and private collections throughout the world.
Terry is also a highly accomplished portrait artist who engages with her subject enthusiastically to draw, paint, and sculpt portrait commissions in a range of styles. As a teacher she loves to share the skills she has studied in Australia, Canada and the United States.
She recently returned to Australia and is currently working in her studio at Coutts Crossing in the Clarence Valley.
