Ree Hegh is a visual artist and educator based in the Northern Rivers, Bundjulung country. She works across sculpture, painting and video installation to investigate the durability and delicacy of everyday domestic materials. Often sourcing used, broken and discarded quotidian objects from her surroundings, as a starting point for an artwork, Hegh engages a ‘break and repair’ process to transform objects and materials, producing artworks that combine elements of ruin and restoration.
Hegh graduated from Queensland College of Art (QCA) with a Bachelor of Fine Art (First Class Honours) and the University Medal for Fine Art in 2017. She is currently in the final stages of a Doctor of Visual Arts (DVA) program. Hegh’s work is included in the 2022/23 touring Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award (JADA). She has exhibited with The Walls Art Gallery, Gold Coast, Wellington St Projects, Sydney, POP Gallery, Brisbane and Byron School of Art, Mullumbimby. She was a Bundanon Artist in Residence in 2019 and participated in the Samrit Artist Residency, Thailand in 2018. She regularly teaches at the Byron School of Art (BSA) in Mullumbimby.
