Contemporary Pop Artist Australia
Federica Sveva is an Italian-born artist and graphic designer currently based in Uki, NSW, Australia. Her multidisciplinary practice explores popular culture, digital identity, emotional disconnection, and contemporary visual language through painting, illustration, collage, photography, digital media, and site-specific installation.
Drawing from Pop Art, internet culture, photomontage, and post-digital aesthetics, her works combine kaleidoscopic imagery, flat colour fields, sharp graphic compositions, and layered visual narratives to create immersive and emotionally charged environments. Her practice reflects on hyperconnectivity, mediated reality, memory, and the psychological impact of contemporary life.
Federica has worked internationally across art studios, museums, and publishing projects, including at the studio of Paul O Robinson Studio in Ljubljana and at Palazzo Fortuny in Venice as a photography assistant. She also designed the front cover for the Italian edition of media theorist and philosopher Boris Groys’ book In the Flow – Art in the Age of Digital Reproduction, published by Postmedia Books.
Her artworks and prints have been exhibited internationally in galleries including Bugno Art Gallery, Green Art Asia, Hysteria Art Gallery, and Cris Contini Contemporary. Her lightbox installation Connections Online, produced at Michele Tombolini Atelier, was presented as part of the collateral events of the 58th Venice Biennale in collaboration with Bugno Art Gallery in Venice. Additional works including Nightmare and Connections Online 2 were later exhibited at Violarte Emozioni D’Arte at Palazzo della Regione Lombardia in Milan in 2019.
Alongside her contemporary art practice, Federica works internationally as a freelance graphic designer specialising in branding, publishing, and visual communication. She has collaborated with hundreds of clients across Australia, creating visual identities and marketing materials for industries ranging from wellness and skincare to hospitality, food, beverage, and contemporary culture.
She is also an accomplished freelance book designer and author. In Australia, she designed and published The Enneagram Cards by Sunaina Watson in 2024, while in Italy she has contributed to approximately fifteen published books with ISBN registration, collaborating with authors and creatives including Paul O Robinson, Sara Marini, Jane Hankel, and Sunaina Watson. She has also collaborated with Leila McKinnon on an upcoming publication exploring the history of Italy.
In 2021, Federica received a grant from NAVA – National Association for the Visual Arts in recognition of her artistic practice and contribution to contemporary visual culture.
