Byron Shire
Dave has been painting watercolour landscapes for around 10 years, focusing on Northern NSW. Previously he was a staff photographer for the iconic Tracks magazine for 20 or so years, before gradually transitioning to watercolour work, particularly seascapes.
His atmospheric and light filled work has a lyrical, almost melancholy realism, although realistic impressionism is probably the best description of his painting. He often paints scenes as they may have appeared in pre-European times, probably a response to his almost constant state of day dreaming; a hopeless longing and a heartbreaking glimpse of how things could have still been, if not for the pointless desecration of this stunning planet.
