Cedar Jeffs is an emerging artist based in the Northern Rivers. Her practice encompasses a range of mediums, with a focus on oil painting and drawing.
Cedar’s interest lies in exploring the traditional genres of portraiture, still life and landscape within a contemporary context.
After several years working in textiles and costume design Cedar studied fine art at The Byron School of Art in Mullumbimby from 2018-2022.
In 2020 Cedar was selected as a finalist in the Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award (JADA) and In September of the same year Cedar exhibited her first solo show at the Tweed Regional gallery.
Since then she has exhibited at Grafton regional gallery in April 2021 and in various group shows across the region.
A recurring theme in Cedars figurative work is the complexity of human behaviour, exploring the hidden layers of the self and the masks we like to wear, looking deeper into what lies beneath the surface of the various roles we play. When working with this subject Cedar considers questions of individual and collective identities, the role of gender and the history of women in society.
