Bryn Newman is a contemporary artist from the United States who has developed her range of work in Sydney and is now practicing in Byron Bay, Australia. She explores her relationship with beauty, nature, and embodiment through abstract art, mixed media and whimsical digital illustrations. She loves working with push and pull methods creating abstract works with rich textures and depth through layers.
Bryn often uses the pieces to uncover what her subconscious is trying to tell her as if interpreting the paintings was a form of modern-day tasseography or Rorschach tests. As part of her technique, she reflects on the works that she creates from her mind’s eye by writing poetry or reflecting on the piece’s meaning once she has finished the work. Ultimately, she believes it’s up to the viewer to decide what they experience and where they go when viewing her work.
