Hello, my name is Tracey Piccoli (Olive) and I was born and raised on Galibal, Bundjalung Country, Casino, Northern NSW.
I am a contemporary Indigenous artist and have created and painted in one form or another all of my life. From an early age I was always interested and intrigued watching and learning from my family around me which has seen me hone many of those finer skills today from those early years.
For me, painting and creating is a way to calm my busy mind and it also allows me to connect to my Country and people by telling the stories I have been taught and that I see in my everyday life. I can draw inspiration from the littlest of things such as seeing a magpie sitting and singing on the fence to watching family and friends yarn and laugh together through to Country healing after a major disaster events.
I am passionate about bringing these stories to life and showing the wider audience our Culture and Connection to not only one another but also to our Country.
I enjoy painting on any surface but predominately enjoy acrylics on canvas and linens, and finer work paperbark. I also paint with watercolours with foraged Ochres include in many pieces.
For me, everything is relevant, new and an exciting adventure exploring the our stories with no limits.
