Armed with a guitar and a swag full of harmonicas, singer-songwriter CJ Shaw’s melodies, word play and storytelling never fails to captivate audiences of all ages.
CJ Shaw’s music is distinctly Australian in style, influenced by Paul Kelly and Slim Dusty. His lyrical storytelling and musicality lends itself to audiences of all ages.
In 2020, CJ Shaw was nominated for an ARIA Award for ‘Music Teacher of the Year’ with Jimmy Barnes as his official ambassador presenting him with the nomination.
This prestigious music industry acknowledgement recognised his dynamic and poignant songwriting for primary-aged children, in particular Shaw’s masterful song ‘ANZAC Biscuits’, which has accrued over 30 000 views online as well as support from ABC Canberra, ABC Sydney and the Australian War Memorial.
In 2021 CJ released his album ‘All Sorts’. Receiving overwhelmingly positive reviews including a 4½ star rating from BMA Magazine, ’All Sorts’ has been dubbed the ‘ultimate family album’ in the way it enthrals audience members of all ages.
Launching the record with two shows at Belconnen Arts Centre in 2022, the songs on ‘All Sorts’ have continued to be shared far and wide. In May this year SBS picked up CJ’s song and video clip ‘Ain’t Many Like Lennie’, broadcasting the video clip on its main channel as well as hosting the clip on its streaming service.
With over a decade experience touring and performing at music festivals in Australia and Timor-Leste, CJ Shaw is an exciting musician at the top of his game.
