Firstdraft is now seeking proposals from artists, curators and writers for consideration in the May 2022 – April 2023 program. Firstdraft supports ideas that are ambitious, experimental and conceptually rigorous.
Programs are developed across a variety of interfaces – exhibitions, publications, and live events – with recipients supported through a range of financial provisions, partnerships, travel support, and professional development initiatives.
Firstdraft encourages applications from emerging and early-career practitioners; also welcoming proposals from mid-career and established practitioners testing new and experimental approaches, as well as ideas that bring emerging artists in dialogue with more established peers.
With a commitment to diversity, Firstdraft strongly supports applications from First Peoples, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, LGBTQIA+ people, people with disability, as well as people with access needs.
Proposals are invited across all programs: Exhibition Program, Curators Program, Writers Program and Live Program; First Peoples Curators Program proposals are accepted year-round.
