Over the past month, Byron Arts Magazine has been running an online art auction, with 100% of proceeds going to bushfire relief. The generosity of the Northern Rivers artistic community in response to the fundraiser has been phenomenal. The artists to donate work included Greg Hodgson, Nikky Morgan-Smith, Hilary Herrmann, Ildiko Hammond, Colleen DaRosa, Rebecca Tapscott, Maria Paterson, Marika Bryant, Marley Myles and more.
At last week’s fundraising event in Byron Bay hosted in partnership with Greening Australia and Pure Scot, David Prior announced an incredible $250,000 donation to Greening Australia to put toward their on-ground restoration work. Combined with the donations from both the Byron Bay and Gold Coast Art Auction events and the online bidding, the total raised was a huge $294,593!! Other charities to benefit from the Byron Arts Magazine bushfire art auction include SAVEM koala rescue, WIRES wildlife rescue, and locally, Bangalow Koalas.
