Byron Shire
Sally Green, a lifelong artist based in Australia, channels the vibrant landscapes of her surroundings into emotionally expressive abstract paintings. With a diverse career spanning airbrush artistry and two decades as a glassblower, Sally now dedicates herself to creating works that capture the essence of Australia’s natural beauty, from the greens and browns of the Northern Rivers to the blues and ochres of Byron Bay’s coastline.
What you see in her artworks is very much in the eye of the beholder. What do you see or feel? This is very personal as each person will see different things and sometimes it can make you have different feelings, this for her, is what art is about, speaking to your subconscious and making your limbic brain make connections from the abstract forms. Sally creates for herself but also for you the viewer to evoke emotions and a sense of wonder.
Her techniques, honed over years, include fluid art, airbrushing, and traditional brushwork, allowing her to create flowing, organic and textural compositions.
For Sally art is cathartic. a form of transmutation of emotions into form. Time is completely lost as she enters a kind of meditative state whilst creating
“It’s about letting go so my art becomes a playground of colours, shapes and emotions.”
For her creating art is a process of inner transformation, and somehow she emerges from painting into a higher state of being. So her art is very personal and it has been necessary for her to create since she was able to hold a paintbrush.
Her pieces evolve naturally straight from source sometimes with minimal planning, and she uses a variety of mediums like acrylics, inks, handmade pigments from the surrounding land and even found objects.
Sally’s art invites viewers to connect with nature’s beauty, and to embark on a journey of interpretation that ignites the imagination , and evokes introspection. Her pieces mirror the textures found in nature and reflect the interplay between the tangible and intangible.
Organic emotive Art to connect you with your imagination and the earth
Each canvas I touch becomes a playground of colors, shapes, and emotions, inviting viewers to embark on a journey of interpretation. Inspired by the chaos and harmony of life, my creations reflect the interplay between the tangible and the intangible. With a palette as diverse as my cultural heritage, I aim to evoke introspection and spark conversations that transcend conventional boundaries. My art is a mirror to the unseen, a testament to the beauty that thrives in ambiguity.
