Byron Shire
Art is the part of me that processes and makes sense of life’s experiences. So my paintings are like a visual diary of old memories, captured treasures, daily observations and existential dread.
I strive to evoke the true character of the object‚ person‚ scene or situation I am describing. I have a real love of folk art and art from the colonial era, I enjoy the earnestness and attention to detail. I also enjoy pouring a lot of layered meaning into my work, I think however if I explained all that to someone I’d be interfering in the job of art, and that is to be a projection holder for others.
My works are held in private collections both in Australia and Europe.
