Masochist is a socially conscious hardcore punk band from Bundjalung Country.
Lyrically tackling things such as sexual assault mental illness and misogyny in the music scene the band brings a raw look at things they believe aren’t talked about enough; due to the negative stigma people have attached these tough topics.
In 2018 they released the second EP ‘Blinded’ put out through Life.Lair.Regret Records who described it as feminist punk fury, and they are currently working on their first full length album. In terms of live shows, the band has aimed to play diverse and inclusive line ups and have also supported prominent names in Australian punk and hardcore seen as well as international acts. Masochist has joined lineups with Propagandhi (CAN), Comeback Kid (CAN), RVIVR (USA), Clowns, Pagan, Mindsnare, Trail of Lies (USA), Dispossessed, Outright, Dicklord, Totally Unicorn, King Parrot and Shackles (just to name a few) as well as playing the Byron Bay leg of the 2018/19 Falls Festival & doing several tours up & down the East Coast of Australia.
