Lucy Be’s love affair with clay began at the age of 21, when she completed a BA(Hons) in Ceramic Design in London. She went on to further her knowledge by working as an assistant for several potters, and eventually completing an Apprenticeship in wood firing.
After many years of working and learning from established potters, in 2020 Lucy Be relocated to Australia where she set up her first studio in the Northern Rivers.
Lucy Be’s pots are made on the wheel and are altered with the addition of slab constructed details. This approach presents an opportunity to manipulate the thrown elements, creating pieces with individuality. The use of form and colour creates a sense of whimsical nostalgia, lending these objects a timelessness that reflects their enriching role in our lives
The meticulous detailing comes to life through the application of coloured slips, glazes, regal patterns, and luminous lustres.
