Lismore
Luke Close is a Githabal man with an arts background spanning 30 years. An artist and arts educator, Close completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) at Deakin University in 2004.
Passionate about expressing the powerful language of Indigenous visual arts, Close describes the exploration of this powerful language as a multidimensional experience of culture, art, connection and healing – “I am in a corridor of life; all of the dimensions of my life surround me and create the stories and pictures of my being, my soul, MY DREAMING.” Close sources his inspiration from people, place, and importantly his connection with the land. Researching local symbols and line marking has further strengthened the development of his cultural style, connecting him to community and family.
Close has recently been commissioned to produce a number of urban art works including a mural commissioned by Lismore City Council as part of the redevelopment of Lismore Regional Gallery and The Quad.
