Abbi Mieog worked for 15 years on the Great Barrier Reef as a Marine Biologist . Her work contributed to the Publication “Global Warming impairs stock-recruitment dynamics of corals” in one of the world’s preeminent science journals ‘Nature’. During her studies she undertook hundreds of dives across the length and breadth of the Great Barrier Reef and various locations around the world. She found the underwater world mesmerising as it constantly shifts in shades of light and visible colour.
Abbi carries her passion for nature and science into her new profession as an emerging artist in fused glass with a range of works from portraits, marine images and artworks that bridge science and art. Her glass art explores the emotional connection and light patterns of the subject matter.
Prior to her Marine studies Abbi had three photographic portraits (Exotica, Sphinx, and Mystique) exhibited at the Art Gallery of NSW. Since commencing in this new field in 2020, Abbi has studied with internationally renowned artists including Tim Carey and Narcissus Quagliata. She believes that from concept to creation – all components must be exquisite.
Abbi is passionate about creating unique art designs, including stand alone art pieces, large wall murals and splashbacks, and loves sharing her passion for glass and light by running workshops at her studio.
