Matthew Purves works with a variety of mediums to create paintings, sketches, sculptured works, animations, audio and renderings.
Fielding himself around the surreal and the abstract, he enjoys the development and realisation of conceptual themes that are relevant to most viewers emotions, thoughts, subconscious and mundane day to day activities whilst portraying these concepts with an altered perception of reality.
His latest project involves printed digital renderings and 3d printed models cast in multi faceted and tinted polyester resin, hand sanded and polished to a clear finish, an installation and an audio/visual presentation.
‘Proprietary Variables and the Modal Illusion of Happiness’ will be exhibiting March 11 – May 3 at Northern Rivers Community Gallery, Ballina.
‘I enjoy experimenting with new and different mediums as it creates a challenge to achieve the artistic intent behind the work or project whilst providing new ways to develop and express the conceptual theme’.
